MADELIA PARK DAYS JULY 7TH - 9TH 2017

2017 Schedule Coming Soon

Summer wouldn’t be the same in Madelia without our 42nd Annual Park Days Celebration, coordinated by the Madelia Area Chamber of Commerce, each July. More than two decades ago, former chamber executive Sherry Williams and former chamber president Bob Etter founded the Park Days Celebration as a way to promote Madelia’s beautiful Watona City Park. Initially, all events happened in the park; however, the celebration now includes activities throughout the entire City of Madelia. In addition to the chamber’s contributions, many community members and organizations are active in planning or sponsoring activities.

Over the years, the Park Days Celebration has expanded tremendously. Some of the main events include our Blues Festival, 3rd Annual Rivers Edge Art & More Fair, grand parade, golf tournaments, our famous moonlight swim, giant inflatable’s, carnival games and fireworks. The locals pull out all the stops to make this a fun-filled event for all ages.

Our parade is on Friday night, starting at 7pm., scheduling the parade on Friday evening allows festivities to carry on in the park without interruption on Saturday. Following the parade, join us in the park with free live music from The Switch Road Band starting at 8pm, food vendors and the spectacular fireworks show at 10pm and more music in the park after the fireworks til 11:30pm.

And, what would a celebration be without a little friendly competition? There will be all kinds of sport activities, people can get involved with including; golf, bean bag toss and youth baseball. The Carp Classic fishing tournament will also be held in Watona Park. On Saturday, activities continue with all-day tournaments, the FREE - Blues Festival, Rivers Edge Art & More Fair – 70+ Vendors 9am-5pm, 6th Annual Madelia Community Hospital & Clinic 5K Run/Walk, food vendors, beer wagon, and many of our traditional events.

On Sunday Men’s 3 Man Best Shot Golf Tournament/Mad¬elia Golf and a 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament. There will be a non-denominational worship service led by the ministerial association, along with live gospel music.

People can enjoy entertainment at the local American Legion on Friday and Saturday evening,
